My Newest Companion
I forgot to mention that I also found a small coffee press while venturing around Kampala. I am thoroughly pleased, and I've used it no less than thrice daily since my return from Uganda.
I can get a 1/2 kilo (about 1.1 lbs) of delicious, Rwandan coffee grounds for about $5. At Starbucks in the USA a similar product would cost no less than $12, but as it turns out, I'm living just down the street (in a sense) from the farms that grow the coffee I'm drinking. How's that for an incentive to export?
Sometimes I try to make sense of what comes over me when I get to drink good coffee here. I don't think I realized my dependence on coffee until this week when I finally had unlimited access to it. Maybe I'm just trying to make up for lost time, but I really drank an exorbitant amount of coffee last week. I'm hoping that this week will bring a bit more equilibrium in my consumption.

Rich, full bodied flavor with tons of caffeine, eh? Try to pace yourself.
oh how that goofy smile brings me gladness. sammy, i wrote a new song that i think you'll like. it kind of has a death cab-ish sound, but with a more uplifting tone. well, we joined the dark side and got a mac. can you do video chat or something? we'd love to talk to you and maybe i could play the song for, that is, if you want.
sam, you inspire us to strive for great things. who knows, maybe africa will meet the duplechins some day. you're in our prayers :)

we got a desktop mac in particular... i think you will like. I am glad I finally have a computer. I am subbing for a class during my conference period right now, and I was just interrupted by a huge cockroach and various shrieking boys and girls. fyi, Erin is living at Seramont now in our apt we are going to move into. It's pretty sweet I think. Little over a month til Sammy, little over that til bachelor party, then... the bells will toll in our souls. marital bliss
Yay! I'm glad you found one!
Samuel!!! I'm glad that you have finally found you some coffee, although I would have to say that I'm more of a Common Grounds/Rao's kinda coffee gal. You will have to come visit me in Wacko when you get back - common grounds just got done with some rennovations! Good Times =) I hope you are enjoying the month of November over there. Is it cold? or still hot? Wos voters decided not to raise taxes in favor of a new stadium (with turf!!!) who would have thought that? oh well, I guess it's best since we still play teams such as bc and of and I don't think they know how to play on such kind of fields. (hey if I can't get my punches in on the college level, I can always get them on the high school level ;) ).
Hope you are doing well!!!
Miss you!!
Love,
Shelly (your fav. big 12 cuzin) ;)
ps. I heard a really good aggie joke the other day, but I will save that for another rainy day, althought it isn't rain in Waco, Tx.
I will share in your joy... i too have a small coffee press that i enjoy during the morning hours before work and then in the mid afternoon after work.
Sam,
I'm so proud to call you friend. I just found and read through your entire blog this morning (that's what they pay me the big bucks for!), and I am moved to the core by your words.
Your observations are poignant and profound.
Thank you for sharing your time in Rwanda. I am cherishing the stories!
God bless!
Jess
Happy thanksgiving Sam. Miss you buddy.
Sam, I thought you would like to know that I shed a small tear when I saw this picture of you. I was cutting onions while reading.
I hope we can share a cup of Jo when you get back.
Also, I thought you would like to know that the Aggies beat the hell out of those t-sips on friday. Gig em.
